Trudi’s Trade Continues After Popular Café’s Quick Sale

Trudi’s Trade Continues After Popular Cafe’s Quick Sale

Posted: Wednesday 10 April 2019

While investment continues to flow into the Torbay leisure and tourism industries, sales of local hotels, pubs, and cafés are also on the increase. As the area’s reputation as a tourist destination continues to grow, the sale of the popular Trudi’s Café in Paignton is the latest leasehold transaction to sell in double-quick time by market leading specialists Charles Darrow.

Brought to the market at the end of 2018, it was only a matter of two weeks before the café’s first viewers put forward an offer, which was agreed almost immediately. With the leasehold sale concluding in less than three months, it means local buyers, Mr and Mrs Aunger, could quickly take full advantage of the café’s prominent position in the heart of Paignton.

Catching the seasonal - and plentiful - footfall in the area, the café’s spacious floorspace has seen a complete refurbishment from the new owners, who have created a unique atmosphere with seating for 40+ internally, and outside, its canopied frontage also provides shaded seating for an additional 8+.

The former Trudi’s Café site, which established a strong daytime trade by the former owners, has been rebranded and affectionately named after the owners Daughter, “Our Katies” which will no doubt be warmly received by the loyal customer base of tourists and locals alike.

Together with the fresh decor and rebranding, the daytime venture will serve a range of locally sourced coffee, tea, homemade cakes and cream teas along with a range of light breakfasts and lunches.

James Sanders Associate Director at Charles Darrow Commented: “Mr & Mrs Aunger are lovely hosts with a real eye on quality throughout which is apparent the moment you step in the door”

“It is was most refreshing to work with such motivated clients who were a pleasure to deal with from start to finish, I wish them every success with their new venture, which is a fitting tribute to their daughter, who would no doubt be very proud to have her name above the door.”

“Special thanks to Cheryl Smith at Boyce Hatton Solicitors who acted on behalf of the purchasers, the lease assignment was a smooth process throughout and completed in record time”.
