Exeter bar shuts for refurb and 'exciting' changes

Big changes at tucked-away Spanish restaurant

An Exeter Tapas bar and restaurant has shut its doors for a major revamp. Forn, tucked away in the city centre's Mary Arches Street, is undergoing a change of ownership from previous owners' Gemma and Simon Livingston.
Opening in 2014, the Spanish restaurant drew inspiration from Mallorca, where co-owner Gemma grew up, was a realisation of a dream and created 10 new jobs.

The new owners, formerly staff members themselves, have promised 'exciting changes' upon its reopening later in the summer, stating “We aim to open at the end of August with a few subtle changes and a few familiar faces."
In the meantime, they have posted a sign in the window of the upmarket independent business stating "Forn is now under new ownership and will be closed for a few weeks for refurbishment.”

On the official Facebook page, previous owners Gemma and Simon added: "Thank you to all our loyal customers over the last four years for making Forn everything we dreamed it would be.

It is with our absolute pleasure to be passing on the baton to Forn's very own 'Dream Team' Matt & Akis who have bought the business and are promising great times ahead.

After four years the place needs a lick of paint and the boys have a few decor changes planned to make the place shiny again and so FORN will be closed for a few of weeks.

Watch this space for the exciting opening date!

We wish them all the success in the world, we could not imagine two better chaps to be handing over our little bar to.

Our move back to Spain is that little bit closer now but, in the meantime, we look forward to seeing you on the other side of the bar."
